Limitations in Using GoogleSheet (Atleast for now)

Like any other spreadsheet software platform, GoogleSheet is not in anyway exempted of having such limitations. While you are using GoogleSheet, you may end up saying..”GoogleSheet can’t do this?!” but yeah it can’t.

Disclaimer: These known limitations are so far only my encounters. Some users may have been able to create a “workaround” as temporary solution(or Google may have already found the solution by the time you are reading this). Worst! I don’t have a single clue about it.

I need not put it all here. You’ll discover it yourself eventually.

Multiple Sheet Selection – As of now, GoogleSheet doesn’t allow you to select multiple sheets within a GoogleSheet workbook. So, if you want to delete more than one number sheet, you’ll have to do it over and over and over again.
The limitations of GoogleSheet in terms of capacity can be summarized below;

Up to 5 million cells for spreadsheets that are created in or converted to Google Sheets
40,000 new rows at a time
maximum number of columns of 18,278 columns
Number of Tabs: 200 sheets per workbook
GoogleFinance formulas: 1,000 GoogleFinance formulas
ImportRange formulas: 50 cross-workbook reference formulas
ImportData, ImportHtml, ImportFeed, or ImportXml formulas: 50 functions for external data
Maximum string length is 50,000 characters

3.As of this writing, with respect to number of functions, MS Excel is still far more superior than GoogleSheets (maybe not for long).

How to be Proficient in Using GoogleSheet?

Like any other new skill acquired, one has to be patient in being a beginner. Although it’s already an advantage if you’re a user of other spreadsheet applications like MS Excel or its equivalent, still, one has to learn the basics of GoogleSheet.

I myself was a previous heavy user of other spreadsheet applications (ms excel, open office, libre office, etc.). Shifting to GoogleSheet was a bit uncomfortable in the start. However, once you get to appreciate the advantages it offer, you can’t get simply enough and wanted to learn more.

My approach in learning GoogleSheet functions is simply to look for GoogleSheet solutions to my perceived problems once I needed it. It’s quite challenging to learn all unique GoogleSheet features in one sitting, so I just gradually learn it once there’s a need.

And finally, the most efficient and effective way of being proficient is through a lot of Practice..Practice…Practice!

Common Pitfalls in Learning GoogleSheet

If you’re already using traditional spreadsheet applications, then it wouldn’t be too hard learning GoogleSheet. Most of the basic formulas, keyboard commands, and the look & feel are, for most part, essentially similar.

One just need to accept the fact that in using GoogleSheet, one no longer have to press a “Save” button after each work, one can work simultaneously with their peers on the same file(real time), and one no longer need a memory stick to transfer/bring their hard earned spreadsheet file around.

Unfortunately, many of the people I know doesn’t embrace much the convenience brought by GoogleSheet simply because they lack the interest in exploring this new innovation. They are still imprisoned on the mentality that what they are currently using is the best option. They are afraid to get out of their comfort zones.

However, once you get oriented with the unique features GoogleSheet offers then you would simply lose yourself in amusement!
